As an integral member of the Finance Team, with the opportunity to grow into a more senior role, the Junior Accountant will assist with the full accounting cycle, ensuring application of sound accounting principles/practices. S/he is expected to assist the Controller in entering and paying payables, receivables, process payroll and complete account and bank reconciliations. S/he will also assist in monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the CFO and Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.
Skills: Prepare/Assist with daily journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations Assist with monthly/year-end closings and preparation of monthly financial statements Administer accounts receivable and accounts payable Prepare tax computations and returns Assist with payroll & Benefits administration Account/bank reconciliations Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences Reconcile all corporate banking transactions Review and process expense reports Perform daily routines and month end procedures Ensure GAAP are being adhered to appropriately Assist with maintaining internal financial controls and procedures Perform ad hoc activities for CFO and Controller
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or other equivalent post secondary education Completed or working towards a professional accounting designation Solid knowledge of Accounting Software Prior experience in Payroll & Benefits Administration is an asset Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted principles, concepts, and best practices and procedures Highly organized, detailed oriented and committed to quality work Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Superior computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
Compensation:
Compensation for this position is within a range of $36-$40k/annum and will be based on both experience and track record of relevant achievement.
